This past weekend I went home to Dallas for some good ole thrifting with my momma.
Treasures were found a plenty
But the real reason the whole weekend was put in motion was because of a dedication happening on Saturday.
For quite a long time my Poppa was very active in the volunteer fire department of a rule area in east Texas. He even served as chief for a good hand full of years.
Shortly after he passed, a year and a half ago, the department constructed a helicopter landing pad for emergency life flights and put a plaque near dedicating it to my Poppa.
This past weekend at their annual fish fry fundraiser they had a small ceremony officially dedicating it to him.
Such a proud moment.
I laugh because this area is very back woods and some of the comments were too funny. Like the fact that the fish didn’t come from the USA… that was a huuuuuge secret. These guys started the “keep it local” idea long before it had anything to do with city dollars and green living.
Here is a peek into the afternoon. Such a good day. My poppa is smiling big – I know it!
Isnt my grandma cute in her Toms?
