Bachelorette Party: Austin

At the end of January we all headed south to Austin for a fun weekend getaway - 15 girls celebrating this bride to be!

Yes you read that right. Fifteen girls. How we managed to coordinate schedules and get everyone out of town at the same time is beyond me.

The bridal party decided early on that with that many guests we didn't want to get hotel rooms. Instead we scoured VRBO and found the most perfect villa on Lake Austin that slept 24(!).

We had the sweetest welcome gifts for all the girls when they arrived. Everyone had assigned rooms - we've watched one too many Real Housewives vacation episodes to know room assignments are a must.

Since our "theme" was glaming - think glamorous camping - we made sure to add in SMORES wherever we could. Obviously we are original and Pinterest aint got nothing on this bridal party!

Each room had prepackaged s'more kit and a schedule of the weekend

The goods! Koozie, ring pop, mini champs, hair ties, heart glasses, personalized mimosa glass, face wipes, gum, Advil. The best survival kit out there

Our first night was extremely relaxed with pizza, wine and a lingerie shower. I put together the best game of bachelorette balderdash ever - Ill share that soon!

Stacey, our planner MVP, also put together the sweetest guest book. Each guest took a turn kissing the "guest book" and signing their name. Afterwards we had a picture of the weekend framed with all our sweet kisses!

Saturday is when all the fun realllly started to happen. We had a party bus scheduled from 10am - 1am to shuttle us all around Austin. VIP status. Starting with brunch and then off to winery tours, lunch at Salt Lick (omg to die for) and then into Austin for dinner and a night out on the town. There might have been a 2 hour nap window built in there.

Little did we know the day had some major detours ahead. Starting with a bit of car sickness that had us stopped at a CVS followed up with this...

No your eyes have not deceived you, that is our WHEEL completely off the back of the bus and 15 girls standing on the side of the rode. The entire wheel fell off the bus.. How does this even happen? Thankfully UBER was around and got all of us safely to the winery while we waited on a new bus to arrive.

Even with all the crazy happenings this was by far my favorite bachelorette party ever. Its just so nice to get away for the weekend with a bunch of awesome girls and celebrate one of the best.

Its been a while...

So much has changed since we last touched base - heck a new year has rolled in.

Every year for the past 3 years I have done a look back on the previous year and a look forward to what I hope is to come (here is last years) no worries, Ill do that later this week.

First, things first. How've you been?

Sorry to go silent for so long. If I'm being honest I was a little blog burnt out. I would think about writing or uploading pretty images and then... I wouldn't. Good news though, a new leaf has been turned and you are about to get more than your fair share of me!

Here are a few images to tide you over until next time ;)

Life : Year in Review

Three years ago (how was it that long? feels like just yesterday) I wrote a blog post about my life status at that point. The whole idea being at the first of January write down basic things about your current circumstances and revisit it at the end of the year and see what has changed.  It was a great exercise to see how quickly life can change in just a year.

Three years ago I wrote this:
I am not the world’s biggest fan of New Years Eve, most of the time it’s overrated and I would have rather had champagne on my couch. This year was different. I have never in my life been happier to ring in a new year.
So long 2010.
I would say “nice knowing you” but let’s get real, I hated 2010. This past year brought more heartache and tears than any other year I have been a part of. Change and I don’t get along and 2010 brought a whole bucket of change from a new job to loss of two special people.
This year is going to be my year. I feel it.
So what is life like currently? Good question.

I am the mother to a precious little kitty cat – Maggie. She’s really is my child and the coolest cat you will ever meet. Promise.
To my mother’s dismay, I am currently single. Maybe the fact that I haven’t been in a relationship in 3 years is what worries her. Honestly, I think she has hidden motives that go by the name of grandkids. I, on the other hand, love the single life but will admit I am open to mingling.
This year I am serving as the co-chair for the Tulsa Relay for Life. Talk about responsibility. The fight against cancer is something that God has given me a passion for and a subject that hits close to home.
Everyone says it, but I have the best friends a girl could ask for. They are supportive, caring, energetic, and help keep my life interesting.

Like Alyssa mentioned, we both work for an energy company in Tulsa. However, in no way shape or form do I work in IT. I would mess things up in 2 seconds flat. I take my talents up to the corporate finance group and work my fingers to the bone every day
So there you have it, a very brief blog style status update. I am excited to see what 2011 has to offer both personally and professionally and I’m even more excited to bring all our readers along for the ride!

What is so crazy is I remember writing that post and being sooo ready for 2011. Since then I have bought a house, added a dag, seen friends come and go, attended 20+ weddings, started taking photography seriously, and switched jobs.

So lets talk 2013 - all of the ups and downs and life currently

I started what would be one of my most favorite (and challenging) journeys yet - Crossfit

2013 brought a lot of change - new job, new friends, new babies, new marriages, and new challenges

At this moment I am three months into a new job - thinking up new home projects like maybe a bedroom makeover and a few outdoor projects - single but dating more than ever (not sure if that's good or bad) -  growing this little blog space - taking on new photography clients each month - planning trips - and serving families of elementary students weekly through church.

After giving it some thought I am hoping 2014 brings growth. Growing my physical strength (pull ups?!) //growing my spiritual knowledge and strength // home growth with new projects and greater organization // career growth // and maybe even some personal growth

Cant wait to see what this year has in store
