My Friend Craig List

I have always had great luck with Craig. He helps me sell items so quickly and I have even scored a find or two.

Recently Craig has helped me sell dining room chairs, a huge Spanish style table, furniture galore, and even my aunts house.

Yep, you read that right. Even her house!

Next up on the sell list, my pretty queen size bed.

I really like this bed – I think I like its potential even more (picture painted frame and tufted headboard) – but alas its just too big for my 1950s home. The rooms just aren't as spacious in older homes as they are these days.

So, to Craig’s she goes.

Anyone else selling big items with Craig these days??

Friday is finally here!

Boy howdy its been a week. Is everyone staying really busy also?

The big stinker with being so busy is that it doesn’t involve any house projects! That will be changing this weekend though. My to-do list is starting to stack up along with the half finished projects. Next week should be a great one on this here blog.

How about a little peek into my life as of late?

Someone stole a slipper from my closet… guilty as charged!

IMG_0646

It sure is crazy what prepping for a garage sale will do to you. Closet cleaned – Check. Clothes in the for sale pile – check check.

IMG_0648

That Whole Paycheck gets me every time. I almost bought those peaches simply for the pack

IMG_0653

I think I lived with my grandparents too long. Containers made into Tupperware

IMG_0656

Japanese Candy anyone?

IMG_0668

He obviously really enjoyed those treats. Damn Dog.

Jersey Boys. ‘nough said

New venture in getting uber healthy. I’ll let you know how it goes

IMG_0678

Mushrooms have started growing in my blueberry bush… I guess that mushroom compost was really made of mushrooms

About ready to start pickin’. Straw bale gardening is my new most favorite thing!

What's going on with you guys? Fun stuff happening?

Lake Weekend

Every summer my entire family gets together for a weekend at the lake. Outside of the typical family holidays this is one of the only other times throughout the year we are all together.

IMG_6018

For me, its one of the weekends I look forward to the most. The lake is such a nice retreat and getting to spend that time with family makes it that much sweeter.

IMG_6016

Fridays are made up of golf and food, this is typically the day everyone travels in.

Then Saturday we have a family breakfast and head out on the water where we stay the majority of the day.

After seeing all of these, I think I need to be more conscious of taking pictures of adults. ha! Kids are typically much more willing subjects.

It was a fun weekend for sure. It wouldn’t be a full picture of the weekend if I didn’t mention that our hearts did ache a bit not having a few certain people there with us. We might have had fun on the lake but I have a feeling heaven is a much better view.

Man Gift

Fathers day gift are never easy to get. Sometimes I think men are harder to shop for them women. I guess there is always that easy Home Depot gift card – best fall back present ever.

This year I wanted to take it up a notch though. Put some thought into gift giving.

After seeing these I knew just what to get my pops.

Custom House Portrait 11x14" // whimsical home, music sheets, mixed media

Only problem was the $250 price tag.

I sent my friend john a picture of my parents house and asked him to use his fabulous design skills to make something awesome.

IMG_5712

He was able to take those two pictures and turn them into this:

Add a Hobby Lobby mat and frame

IMG_6001

… and you’ve got yourself a meaningful fathers day gift that didn’t break the bank

IMG_6011

In fact, here is the affordable price break down:

Original picture : free – completely digital

Watercolor : Depends on who does it

Picture Print : $1.80 at Kinkos

Frame: $29.99 (I used a 40% off coupon and got it for $20)

Mat : $3.99

Father’s day gift total: $25!

What did you get your dad for fathers day? A tight neck squeeze? Gift Card? A favorite recipe?

I'm still here

Do you ever have those weeks where it feels like you have been sucked up by a tornado and you are just trying to survive?

That’s been my week. Not bad just busy.

Work has been on overdrive and then there are friends to tend to – oh and my family is coming in town tonight so there's that house thing I need to clean…

I did manage time to paint my nails for this upcoming lake weekend with the family.

IMG_0625

If you know me at all you know I bite my nails and therefore they are rarely painted. To be honest, I know ill pick the polish right off so what's the point spending the time to paint them and even more time letting them dry if it will last two days?!

Let me tell you a secret. I read a way to get your nails to dry super quick without all those smudges and crinkles the polish can sometimes get.

Base coat + polish (I do two coats) + top coat…. then SOAK IN COLD WATER for at least 3 minutes.

My nails were dry to the touch within 30 minutes of painting them. I do not kid.

My head is running wild with new fun nail ideas now that I know my time isn't eaten up by the painting process

Glitter? Why not!

I have also heard of a way to get your own shellac style (long lasting) manicure at home sans the crazy lights and all you have to use for a true shellac polish

Nail Magic Nail Hardener + two coats of polish + Out the Door top coat = Shellac nails… add another out the door top coat in a week.

Let me know if you try any of these tricks – Id love to hear if they work for you.

I’ll be back Monday with fun stuff. Promise

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Things are starting to really come alive in the hay bales! Tons of baby tomato blooms and a few peppers. Not to mention that cucumber plant is starting to take over.

Word to the wise – only plant THREE veggies per bale rather than my six… it starts to get a bit crowded

IMG_0532

But never the less – they are all growing growing growing

I will tell you this – I have yet to put any sort of plant food on these babies. They have received nothing but water since I planted them (with compost and blood meal).

My very first tomato baby ever started to color up and next thing I knew… it was gone. I am hoping it was from the storms we had and not some little bunnies that happen to flock the neighborhood.

If things keep going the way they are now, then there will be one mighty large harvest coming!

Nom Nom Nom!

Get out your pickling jars ladies!
